LAMBDA AWARDS SCHEDULED

On Thursday, July 29 at 10pm, an exciting event will take place in Northeastern Chio... the 1982 "Northeast Ohio Lambda Awards" presentation and festivities. This year, many people and organizations have gratiously offered their time and talent to help insure the success of the "Avards," which is actually sponsored by ACTION MAGAZINE. Early response to our announcement of the awards has been

fantastic.

The Northeast Lambda Awards is patterned after similar events that have become traditions in the gay communities of many other cities including Maiami, Chicago and San Francisco, to name a few. It is an opportunity for all people... women, non, bars, clubs, baths, churches, non profit organizations, etc.... who have an interest in the gay community to come forward in a friendly, fun, cooperative but slightly compatitive atmosphere culminating in the Avardu presentation night on July 29. We hope you will join us and the persons, organizations and business establishments who have responded thusfar in this cooperative spirit.

Briefly, the Awards will work like this:

1) There are 10 categories of awards, for which each winner will receive a plaque from ACTION MAGAZINE for display throughout 1982. Also top recognition will be given to each recipient in the August issue of ACTION.

2) Anyone way nominate either thonsolves (or their business or organization) or anyone else they feel qualifies for a particular category by mailing nominating petitions to ACTION MAGAZINE, P.O. Box 506, Lakewood, Oh. 44107. All petitions must be postmarked no later than June 20.

3) After all nominations are received and compiled, a voting ballot will then be be printed and distributed to business establishments where the voting vill ba held on July 16 and 17. They will be returned to ACTION MAGAZINE where they will receive the utmost care and be tabulated in an efficient manner with integrity. 4) The Northeast Ohio Lanbda Avards presentation on July 29 will be the final culmination of nearly two months of nominating, voting and campaigning by the nominees that will surely ignite a new spark in the Northeast Ohio gay scene in these summer months. A quest star M.C. will move the festivities along. Various presenters will announce each auard category and winner in true "Academy Award" fashion.

Below is a list of categories for which naminations are to be made. When the final ballet is printed, the five nominees for each category receiving the highest number of nominating petitions will be used.
